Your guide to pre-screening early careers talent in the age of AI

Your guide to pre-screening early careers talent in the age of AI

With AI transforming graduate and apprentice recruitment, early careers recruiters face new challenges. Over half of job applicants now use AI to optimise applications, with tools like ChatGPT embellishing CVs, drafting cover letters, and tailoring applications to job descriptions.

In some cases, AI even automates applications, often without candidates fully engaging with job details.

For recruiters, this AI influence makes screening harder, as applications begin to look identical. A well-written resume or cover letter no longer reliably reflects a candidate's true potential. Applications are rising, yet candidate drop-off also grows, complicating the recruiter’s task.

Recruiters are adapting in two ways:

  1. Deter: Set clear policies on acceptable AI use in applications.
  2. Design: Accept AI’s role and create processes that reduce its impact. Ditch traditional cover letters and use AI-proof assessments.

Read the full guide and learn how to AI-proof your candidate pre-screening for early careers recruitment.
