Talent attraction: Mic drop moments from The View Podcast

Tribepad, the trusted tech ally to smart(er) recruiters, recently gathered wisdom from over 20 recruitment experts, uncovering the key trends transforming talent attraction today.

At IHR Talent Attraction Conference 2025, their Chief Commercial Officer Neil Armstrong shared powerful insights shared from their podcast, The View, with examples from organisations such as the NHS, BT, and Indeed.

Here are the four main themes:

Diversity, equity & inclusion (DEI) is a business imperative.

Armstrong and his guests agree that DEI is no longer optional but essential for driving innovation, culture, and retention. Candidates, especially younger generations, expect authentic inclusivity and transparency, with DEI embedded genuinely across leadership and recruitment processes.

AI as a tool to support recruiters.

While artificial intelligence can automate routine tasks and speed up feedback, Armstrong emphasises that it should enhance recruiters’ ability to build meaningful human connections rather than replace them. Trust and personal engagement remain crucial in hiring.

.

Authentic employer branding attracts talent.

True employer branding reflects real employee experiences and company values. Armstrong highlights examples from NHS Devon and Card Factory, showing how purpose-driven messaging creates emotional connections with candidates and builds lasting trust.

Moving beyond the CV for fairer hiring.

The traditional CV is increasingly seen as outdated and often misleading, especially with AI-generated resumes creating a “sea of sameness.” Armstrong advocates for video interviews and skills-based assessments as fairer, faster, and more predictive alternatives that focus on candidates’ potential and motivations.

Experimentation and innovation are essential.

Armstrong encourages recruitment leaders to challenge old ways, embrace new technologies, and experiment continuously to remain competitive in attracting the best talent.
